Bachelor of Health Care | Nursing | full-time studies

Our programme is aimed at you who enjoy working with people in a multi-professional environment, wish to carry out your studies in close co-operation with working-life, and already have skills in either Swedish or Finnish. The need for health services is continuously growing in our society, which means that a degree in Nursing prepares you for an almost guaranteed employment within the health sector.

As this programme is offered is offered jointly with Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (Diak), you will take courses at both Arcada and Diak. The result of this collaboration is education of exceptionally high quality, with each of the UASs delivering specific modules according to their strengths. The two campuses are within walking distance from one another, which makes it easy to use the facilities of both UASs that you as a student have full access to.

The curriculum at Arcada is based on caring science with multidisciplinary elements from natural sciences (medicine), as well as social and behavioural sciences. The studies are carried out in close co-operation with working life, for example through projects carried out both individually and in groups. As Arcada is located in the capital of Finland, Helsinki, your internship opportunities are numerous and diverse. Extension studies give you possibilities to specialize in for example advanced clinical care or management and leadership.

At Arcada modern technology is used in teaching. Theoretical lessons are varied with computer-based self-studies, practical skills training in class, simulations and clinical training in working life. The simulations are carried out in our unique Patient Safety and Learning Center with the support of medical doctors and registered nurses.

The programme is taught in English, but please note that language skills in either Swedish or Finnish are necessary to complete your work practice periods, and that these skills are required already at the application stage.
